The Shadows of Editing

Mikes Shadow

One of the joys of being a photographer in this era of high tech editing programs and digital manipulation software is the ability to take your images where your imagination leads you.

When our most recent couple arrived for engagement photos we decided to shoot a few of them while they were still in their coats. The long coat and hat he wore reminded us of a image we shot for a classic style fashion shoot. We lit him with a low angle light to create a large shadow on the wall behind him and had him pull his hat low to give us a mysterious look.

Today during the post-editing process I made the comment that all his shadow needed was a pipe to look like an old 20's era private eye. This is the result. When technology and imagination meet fun almost always follows.

What do you think when you see this image?

It's almost like he is thinking, "Man, I wish I had my pipe!"

Reflections by Rohne is a mother-son team. We understand the dynamics of loving relationships. Our passion is capturing the moments and expressions of your relationships, with the love of your life, your children, your parents, your siblings, your friends, your co-workers, your teammates, and your customers. Together we are able to capture the emotions and details of your story.

Photography is “light writing.”  We love to sculpt with light to make you look amazing. Harnessing light and shadows helps to tell your story also. Good lighting can make you look younger, healthier, slimmer, and more dramatic. We harness light to draw attention to your best features, and to create the aura desired, that tells your story.
