GenCon: The Real World of Fantasy
Last Wednesday through Sunday 56,613 gamer nerds attended GenCon 2014 in Indianapolis, enjoying over 14,000 events. If you check records online you will see the unique attendance listed as 56,614...one of them was me... and I don't qualify in the gamer nerd category. Josh was there for the whole time with 5 other friends. I only attended for one day for the express purpose of photographing one of our wedding couples to include images in their wedding photo guest book. Of course, I couldn't help but photograph others, who were gladly posing for everyone's camera. Being in Indy for this event was a photographers dream. It offers these nerds an opportunity to dress like their characters, "break away from day-to-day molds and expectations, and explore a side of themselves they seldom if ever experience." (Connie Rohne, Artist Statement, September 2013)
Here are some of the fun costumes we saw.
Maybe next year, you will want to go also.
