What Drives Me to Photograph People?
Yesterday I watched a webinar from Creative Live by photographer Kirsten Lewis. It made me realize I have never verbalized why I have such a passion for what I do as a photographer. Let me share what I believe about photography. (You can see more on my newly redone "About Us" page.
A favorite picture from my lifetime is the image of my mother holding my hands and looking at me before my wedding ceremony. She died 17 months after my wedding and to have that image speaks volumes to me. Her expressions says “I am so pleased with who you are, the woman you’ve become, and the joy of being your mother.” 37 years later I still choke up when I see and think about it.
That is what drives me as a photographer. I want to capture your precious relationships so that you can relive those feelings. We create visual histories that reminds you, your children and grandchildren who they are because of their precious heritage.
